Truly, Xavier is always under an insane amount of pressure. After being taken in from having a less than pleasant past, Xavier's mother has always preached about being involved and doing everything he can to prove everyone wrong about him. Xavier is always expected to be a model student, singer, older brother, son, and just be perfect all around. This has greatly strained his relationship with his mother and forced Xavier into becoming a ticking time bomb, as he is unsure of when his next breakdown will occur. For Xavier, his attitude has almost become a front, because inside he is mentally and emotionally drained, tired of trying to be the perfect son that his mother is always trying to force him to be. Along with that, he is people pleaser.
The only issue was his father. His father's temper and his addiction to the bottle led to a shorter fuse. He would sometimes go to work drunk. When he was fired for trying to hit a coworker, Molly began to fret over their financial situation. She had wanted to send Xavier to the nicest schools, make sure his needs were met. His father hit her after she blew up on him, and it wasn't the last time. By the time he was five, Xavier was well aware of the toxic relationship between his parents. If his dad tried to come after him, his mother would step inbetween them, and take whatever beating was meant for Xavier. Xavier became distraught and would get sick. Out of concern and stress, he wouldn't eat for days on end. It only seemed to get better when his mother met a lawyer by the name of Chandler Briggs. Chandler promised to removed Molly and Xavier from their situation, then promised to marry Molly after their divorce was finalized. Things were sort of looking up. Xavier's health improved and his appetite came back slowly. Xavier finished up at his montessori while Chandler looked into private schools for him. When he was six, his mother was at home less and less, splitting time between work, Chandler, and getting the divorce paperwork together. Xavier was left home alone with his father a lot, but often times, Xavier would hide in his room, or simply beg to stay longer at piano lessons, which his teacher happily obliged. Xavier used the piano to help him cope with the fact his mother no longer was around and his father would hit him, regardless of when he returned home.
When he was seven, everything changed. Xavier's mother and Chandler went out for a few drinks to celebrate the fact the divorce was soon going to happen. His father was out at the bar, and they suspected he would be missing for a while. They hired a babysitter and took leave. At around ten, his father returned earlier than expected, kicking the babysitter out and demanding Xavier tell him where his mother was. Xavier refused and his father began to beat him, slamming him into the wall and punching his face. His mother returned home in time to witness the beating and screamed. They fought. During the fight, Molly revealed she had been seeing a lawyer behind his back and that divorce papers were ready, and that Molly was leaving with Xavier. Oscar became enraged and began to hit and beat her. Molly tried to fight back, and Xavier, who was too lightheaded to stand up, could only watch as his mother was dragged out of their duplex by his father. Xavier blacked out. Chandler stopped by after Molly failed to return his calls to find Xavier out cold on the floor, bleeding and battered, with no sign of either of his parents. He called the cops and the ambulance. The cops found Oscar the next day, arresting him for the disappearance of Molly, but they had no evidence, no body, and they couldn't prove that he had done anything to her. He was charged with child abuse and endangerment and served a few years for that, before being released early. Chandler made a move to protect Xavier from his vengeful father, legally changing his name to Xavier, and made him a ward of the state, sending him to live with a foster family.
His first foster family already had three kids, all older or around his age. The kids would pick on Xavier, and after trying to fight back, they sent him back. Another family took him in as a foster, but upon moving, could not take Xavier with them, and sent him back. At another home, the man who was living there made sexual advances, which he reported, and was removed from his care. He went through approximately nine homes in four years, before being placed in a group home for young pre-teens. While there, Xavier began to self-teach himself how to play guitar and studied various guitar players. As he was left-handed, Xavier studied Jimi Hendrix extensively and even was able to teach himself how to play right handed. He continued to play music and began to write his own once he became more comfortable with playing the guitar. For a community project, Akaterini Straight, a music teacher from Hell, came up to do a class over percussion. She took a liking to Xavier, and was impressed with his talent, especially since most of it was just him teaching himself. Kat returned home, but couldn't stop thinking about Xavier, and talked about him constantly to her husband, band teacher Jake. The two already had two kids, ten-year-old Eleni and four-year-old Angeliki. Jake agreed to go and meet him, and Xavier won over his heart instantly. The two agreed to start the adoption process, and soon enough, Xavier became their legal son, and moved to Hell with them when he was thirteen. While he couldn't be happier, Kat was a perfectionist. Having been told of his circumstances, Kat was determined to have Xavier prove that just because he was an older orphan and that his past was hard, she would not settle for less from him, because he was intelligent and talented. From the start of eighth grade, all the way to now, Kat has pressured Xavier into being the top of his class, often times even freaking out over one bad grade on a test. Xavier tried his best to stay on top of everything, even if he had no time to study with all the extracurriculars he was in. Xavier began to worry about disappointing his mom, and became kind of a basket case, suffering the occasional breakdown if something wasn't near perfect enough for his or his mom's standards. Most of his friends tried to help him ease up on himself and relax, but it was to no avail. They eventually dropped it - as trying to get through to Xavier was a lost cause, and so he continued to try and be a people pleaser, as well as live up to his mother's unrealistic expectations on the perfect son she wanted him to be.
Freshman year, Xavier began to take an interest in Chardonnay Garcia. Chardonnay, embarrassed the "teacher's pet" in all her classes liked her, began to bully him in an attempt to dissuade him. Xavier, while miffed, did back off, but confided in Amanda he still liked her. Upon hearing that, Chardonnay went off, and did whatever she could to keep him away. Finally, she played on his insecurities, and used a few bad grades in math and the fact he was adopted as a means to keep him away. Xavier, however, fired back with a comment about her father. The two ended up fighting, and were both suspended for a day due to the nature of the fight. The next day, Chardonnay went over to his house to apologize, and offered to help him in math, if he would let her use his history notes to study. They began a secret relationship shortly after, with Donnay refusing to tell anyone out of sheer embarrassment. Xavier agreed, to keep her happy. Chardonnay, for the most part, expected many things from him, and emotionally manipulated him during the course of this relation. The relationship began to mentally affect Xavier, and his friends began to worry about his well-being. While drunk one night at Saeran's house, Xavier admitted to him and Josiah Poms (who was also Donnay's stepbrother) that he had been dating Chardonnay, and in spite of him wanting to be an official couple, she refused to make it official and continued to use him. Angry, Saeran insisted he dump Donnay, while Josiah, who wanted them both to be happy, took the backseat until hearing Donnay wrongfully lash into Xavier for something stupid. After Josiah informed her that Xavier had told him and Saeran, Donnay freaked out on Xavier, and Xavier, who was fed up with everything, broke up with her. Three months later, Donnay came to his doorstep and begged him to take her back, promising a much different relationship this time. He agreed, and have been officially dating since the summer before sophomore year.
